Definitely people care about what your law firm is doing on the Internet. Think of it like this, I mean when TV became big and commercials became big people wanted to advertise and promote through television because people spent time watching television; it’s no different. People will spend lots and lots of time online these days, heck, we can pull out our phone and be online in half a second so it’s important to have an online presence simply because people are spending time there. People are spending time on social media, they’re spending time on YouTube, they’re spending time reading blogs. So those are avenues and forums which you can have exposure to those people.
And then also there’s the fact that we spend so much time online these days that even when we get referred to somebody we’re typically going to go look them up online so you better believe that your referrals do care about what you’re doing online because if they get referred to you and then look you up and what they see isn’t very impressive that reflects you and that says something about you; obviously making a positive impression reflects the opposite way.
So what you’re doing online matters for lots of reasons from impressing prospects that are looking you up online because they were referred to you, impressing colleagues that you meet when you’re networking and then also the fact that people in general just spent a lot of time online so the more visible you are the more places that you’re active in; again, your website, blogs, video, things like that. The more exposure you can actually get for yourself and that’s Marketing 101, right? I mean, exposure really does matter.
