Tech doesn’t have to be scary, nor does it make you lazy for utilizing it. The truth is that you don’t have to do everything yourself or make sure every last punctuation mark is reviewed before it’s sent to a client. It can also be hard to let go of past systems when so much time, money, and effort have been put into them. Don’t fall into that sunk-cost fallacy! Instead, look ahead at the opportunities that await.
1. Booking link
Don’t have your receptionist team play phone tag with interested prospects who need a consultation. Have a booking link from an app like Calendly, YouCanBookMe, or Acuity on your Contact page so people can get onto your calendar when it’s convenient for them.
2. Electronic payment options
Don’t make people mail checks or money orders. Utilize a service like LawPay, EasyPayJD, or others to invoice and collect payments.
3. Electronic signature templates
Whether you use something like DocuSign, HelloSign, or PandaDoc, allowing people to electronically sign your retainer agreement and other documents makes the process faster and more convenient for everyone. Remember, few people have scanners at home!
4. Document assembly tools
There’s a lot of boilerplate language in legal or financial documents, but there are also apps and software out there that allow you to take your documents and populate your clients’ case details in the appropriate areas. Some apps even adjust grammar like pronouns, plurals, and other contextual language.
Most importantly, make sure you’re utilizing your CRM to the best of its capability. CRMs like Clio, PracticePanther, and more have so many integrations that you may not even be aware of. Reach out to your rep ASAP and figure out if they have a solution you might be missing.
