
Well, think about the Internet this way, I mean, people spend a lot of time there so this includes your past clients, this is your colleagues, people just spend time online. So if you think about the Internet as another way to stay top-of-mind and stay connected then that kind of answers the question in itself. I mean, we all know that the way to increase referrals is through connecting with people, building good relationships, staying top-of-mind with them so that when a need comes up or when they know someone that has a need they hopefully think of us.
Well the strategy is no different with the Internet. Okay? So you can use things like social media like your firm’s social media accounts to actually stay connected with people. An email newsletter is a fantastic tool to use if done properly to stay connected and stay top-of-mind with people.
There are other things you can do like videos and blogs because something like a blog is a reason for someone to kind of come back to get more information so it’s truly about looking at the different Internet forums or Internet mediums like social media, blogging, etc., email, and asking yourself how can I use these to do what I already know I should be doing which is staying connected, staying top-of-mind, reinforcing my expertise, reinforcing what I’m focusing on. So how can you use those mediums on the Internet to do that and ultimately when you do that you should see it affect your referrals.
