“We are a law firm that focuses on business law, and then we have niches or specializations in intellectual property and privacy law, as well. I think an ideal client for me is someone who has been sitting on an idea for a while, and they finally get the courage to step out on that idea. It’s the ones that are really passionate about something they’re working on, something that’s really innovative, and they’re just looking for an attorney to just have in their back pocket to support them on their dream.

I was at a Florida Bar convention, I think it was last summer, actually, and I started working with you guys. We had to have a conversation about how you could help support my firm, and she did a really good job, Jana, at kind of explaining that. The team recently helped me write an article or a blog about copyright trolls, and I think it was less than two weeks after that blog went live.

A week later, we actually got a direct-close client specifically from that copyright infringement article, which was just amazing to have. It happened so quickly and it was so spot on. For one, I think it confirmed to me what a great job that you guys are able to do, the way that you guys are able to work together, collaborate and produce an amazing result that is reflected directly with the clients or getting leads is just, I think, impeccable.

“My name is Wendy Meadows. I work in Baltimore County, Maryland. I primarily mediate. I do parent coordination. I no longer litigate, but I do represent children in court. That is the one time you’ll find me in court. The ideal client for me is a couple. A couple willing to have a process where they can resolve the differences amicably.

I met the Spotlight team at Cliocon 2 years ago, and everyone was very kind and nice, and welcoming. I believe the first person I met at Spotlight was Jana. We hopped on a call, and she understood me and understood my mission and where I wanted to go with my legal marketing and how I wanted to revamp my website. A couple of months ago, Spotlight helped me with a blog.

It was about same-sex adoption. Within a few weeks of it posting, at least two different people hopped on my calendar to schedule a consultation with regard to same-sex adoption. I was telling my best friend about this, who is a medical director at a fertility clinic. I said, “Hey, I wrote this blog, and because of it, I have all these same-sex adoption people now pouring in.

” And she said, “Oh, Wendy, that’s so cool, but you know, you should be on our list, too, right?” And I think this is the neatest thing Spotlight does. It’s like, you keep putting yourself out there and putting yourself out there, and you keep reminding people that you exist. I wouldn’t have had the conversation to be on her list as well, which is going to result in more clients unless I had the blog post to then direct me to consults, then direct me to the conversation to my friend, and I’ll be on that list, too.

Spotlight really helps us increase our digital footprint in a meaningful way that eventually does bring clients in. It might not be A plus B equals C, but it’s definitely A plus B equals XYZ, which is more important. And now that I’ve been with Spotlight for about I think 18 months now, what I’ve seen over the course of that time is there’s less and less heavy lifting on my part. “I practice family law, primarily divorce, custody, issues related to a family. I’m in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, which is in Atlantic County, southernmost tip of New Jersey. I probably started listening, you know, about a year before that, and I still listen. I have definitely grown since I started working with Spotlight. “We’re in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We’re not a general practice firm, but we handle family law, estate planning, estate administration, business law that’s ancillary to estate planning. And then we have a partner, Jason, who does criminal and lower court civil litigation. Our other partner, Martha Norton, she oversees our complex civil litigation cases and family law.
We’ve all been in practice for a long time and practice together for a long time. But Martha, Jason, and I have been together in a firm since 2019. We were coming out of a firm that did no marketing whatsoever. We don’t know how to market. You guys were quick and easy to work with. We’ve always had positive growth.
We were a new firm. So, our first few years we had enormous growth. First year we were at like 60%. The second year I think was 50%. We’ve had a firm for about 10 just celebrated our 10 year anniversary earlier this year. This is the first time we’ve advertised for Danilson Law.
The first campaign we have seen a consistent flow of new leads every day and every week, really. I’ve got a follow-up call with a new lead now every day for the next two months. And that’s been a lot of fun to reach out to these home sellers in Iowa to say, “Hey, how can we help? I just got a notification about an hour ago from LinkedIn that a local lender who we don’t work with replied to and shared one of our posts about platting and says hey for this topic for platting projects use Danilson Law and that opens the door for a conversation about hey let’s let’s work more together.
Your team definitely handles the monthly newsletter for us and then the social media. Having these things done for me or with me is so helpful because as a business owner I’ve got so many different things on my mind. It’s really important to have the experts work on the thing that they’re experts at. The way I want to do it is I just want to give value to our audience.
Give, give, give, give, give, give, give. I’m not afraid to give away knowledge and expertise because there are a lot of property owners and buyers in Iowa that just want help from an expert. And that’s what our team is. The more that we’re providing value, the more that we’re giving, I know that’ll work out on the back end for the team and the firm.”

So, one of the most powerful things is the blog that I have Spotlight do. I never felt like it was someone else doing my marketing. I felt like it was me in it. It’s my voice. It’s me. What I get feedback from with that is clients contacting me. Hey, I read your blog. Is this really what I should be doing? Is this really what I should be avoiding? That’s really how it works. And then when I tell them, they’re like, “Oh, that’s exactly what you said.” Like, “Okay, this is great. I’m not writing these, but I don’t tell them that.
It’s really coming from my words that someone else is putting into a blog form.” And then we’re sending out newsletters. So, I think that’s a constant contact for uh the group of people that know me. So, I think that’s really great to stay top of mind. I would say it really is a team. I usually have multiple people on a call.
It feels like brainstorming. It feels like they’re really wanting to support me. If you don’t know where to turn, they’ll give you ideas. Or if you have an idea, they’re going to take it and make it better and make it actually work. Cause us lawyers think we know how to market, but we really don’t.
There’s so much more to it than I would ever understand. It’s been a really good team and not just like a individual. And I also don’t feel like a number. I don’t feel like I’m just uh somebody that they’re checking in the box. Okay, we got another lawyer. I feel like it’s people that really care. So that’s what I love. That’s what’s kept me here.
And I feel like I knew that at the beginning. I don’t know the percentages of growth, at least 10 to 20% growth year after year. To look back, I always laugh looking back with my business coach of where we were when we started. And we’re just helping so many families. It’s been really, really great to grow into what I thought was not possible.”
